At Off The Leash Theatre, we are passionate about championing creativity, supporting emerging talent, and creating opportunities for artists to develop their work in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Our Guest Director Residency has been created to give directors the opportunity to lead and develop a project under the Off The Leash Theatre banner, with creative mentorship, practical support, and guidance throughout the process.
Each year, we invite a guest director to join us for a supported residency slot, allowing them to explore their creative voice, gain directing experience, and bring exciting new ideas to life alongside our company.
The residency is designed to encourage bold, imaginative, and engaging theatre-making while ensuring directors feel fully supported in areas such as:
- Production planning
- Creative development
- Budget management
- Casting support
- Rehearsal guidance
- Marketing & publicity
- Licensing & performance rights
- Technical and venue coordination
- Audience engagement
At Off The Leash Theatre, we believe the best creative work happens through collaboration. While guest directors are encouraged to bring their own artistic style and vision, the residency also offers ongoing mentorship and oversight from founder Lorna to help ensure productions remain professional, supported, and aligned with the company’s creative values and standards.
We are particularly interested in hearing from directors who are passionate about community theatre, innovative storytelling, actor development, and creating exciting work that connects with audiences. Whether you are an emerging director looking for your next opportunity or an experienced creative wanting to explore a new project, we would love to hear your ideas.
This residency is more than simply directing a production, it’s about building confidence, developing artistic identity, and becoming part of the growing Off The Leash Theatre creative community.
