Discover The Place Theatre: A Home for Arts in Bedford

Proud to Call The Place Theatre Our Home 🎭

At Off The Leash Theatre, we are incredibly proud to call The Place Theatre, Bedford our creative home. More than just a venue, The Place is a vital part of Bedford’s arts community, a welcoming, inspiring, and inclusive space where creativity, performance, and community truly come together.

Since opening in 2003, The Place Theatre has built a fantastic reputation as one of Bedford’s leading venues for high-quality professional theatre, while also providing a home for many of the town’s amateur and community-led theatre companies. With a year-round programme of theatre, music, film, comedy, children’s performances, musicals, and contemporary drama, The Place offers something for everyone and continues to champion exciting, diverse, and thought-provoking work.

Alongside its performances, The Place Theatre also acts as a hub for local community groups, hosting workshops, classes, rehearsals, and activities for over 17 different organisations and creative groups within the area.

What makes The Place even more special is that much of what happens there is made possible by an incredible team of dedicated volunteers. From front of house and technical support to helping run events and performances, volunteers are at the heart of keeping this wonderful theatre alive and thriving for the local community.

As a registered charity, The Place Theatre relies heavily on support, fundraising, donations, and audiences attending performances in order to continue its important work. One of the simplest and most valuable ways you can support The Place is by coming to watch a show, booking tickets, spreading the word, or making a donation if you are able to. Every bit of support helps keep live theatre accessible and thriving in Bedford.

At Off The Leash Theatre, we are hugely grateful to have the opportunity to create and perform within such a special venue, and we are proud to support The Place Theatre and everything it continues to do for artists, audiences, and the wider community.
